Gottifredi Maffioli

Kingfisher are the UK distributers of Gottifredi Maffioli ropes. Based in Novara, Italy Gottifredi Maffioli was founded in 1926 and is still run by members of the Maffioli family today.

Gottifredi Maffioli have always been one of the most innovative rope manufactures in the world they were the first rope manufacturer to make climbing ropes from nylon, these ropes were used by the Italian expedition that first conquered K2 on the 31st July 1954.

In the early 80's, Gottifredi Maffioli took its first steps into the yachting market becoming the supplier of Azzurra, the 1st Italian team to challenge for the America's cup. Since then yachting became one of the company's most important markets.

Through continuous development Gottifredi Maffioli has become a world leader in high end yacht racing, supplying many successful teams including the Louis Vouitton Cup winners ll moro di Venezia (1992) and Luna Rossa (2000) and the America's Cup winner Alinghi (2003 onwards).

Gottifredi Maffioli supplies many other race winning yachts from different classes including, America's Cup, Open 60's, Volvo 70's, Maxi Multihulls, TP 52's and many more. While developing ropes for these racing yachts Gottifredi Maffioli have always been one of the first manufactures to launch ropes made from the latest materials. In 2009 the new Dyneema® SK90 ropes where launched to all. These new ropes are characterised by an extremely high modulus and an unparalleled strength-to-weight ratio.

These ropes have been tested already on some of the worlds most prestigious boats including helping Alinghi win the 32nd America's Cup.
